A little about Montgomery

The heart of Alabama, and home of some of the most important events in Alabama's history, Montgomery sits near the center of the state. It was first incorporated in 1819, and became the state's capitol in 1846. Having nicknames such as "Cradle of the Confederacy" shows the tainted past of Alabama and the american south, however Montgomery was crucial in the Civil Rights Movement, earning the title "Birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement", with promnent leaders such as Rosa Parks (Tuskegee Alabama native) and Martin Luther King Jr. leading movements such as the Montgomery Bus Boycott[1] and the Selma to Montgomery marches[2].

Some other notable people born in Mobile include Nat King Cole (Jazz Musician) and Octavia Spencer (Actress).
